Men's Tennis Eliminated from ITA Regional

Oct. 22, 2005

Ann Arbor, Mich. - Eigis Vedrickas was the last Golden Eagle with a chance to continue on in competition at the Wilson ITA Midwest Regional but after playing Matt Baccarani of Ball State, Vedrickas was eliminated.

Baccarani is seeded 6th in the tournament and is ranked 79th nationally by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Vedrickas played well in the first set, tying the match at 3-3 but was not able to take advantage after that point. He lost the match, 6-3, 6-1.

"Eigis tied the set at 3 all but then Baccarani took advantage after that," said head coach Steve Rodecap. "Eigis kind of played a poor game after that point and let the set get away from him. But credit should be given to Matt because he really played well today."

The regional tournament concludes the fall season for Marquette. The Golden Eagles will return to competition in January when they kick-off their regular season and enter their first season in the Big East.

-COMPLETE RESULTS-
Matt Baccarani (BSU) def. Eigis Vedrickas (MU) 6-3, 6-1
