The Marquette University men's tennis team (7-6) wrapped up a five-match homestand Friday night with a 4-3 loss against Northern Illinois (9-4) at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium.

The Huskies opened the match by claiming the doubles point, winning at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions. The MU tandem of junior Logon Collins and sophomore Cameron Tehrani was able to earn an 8-4 decision at the No. 2 spot.

Tehrani got MU on the board with a quick 6-1, 6-2 decision over NIU's Max Phillips at the No. 4 spot. He now leads the team with 18 overall singles wins and is 9-2 in dual action. Sklyr and junior Dan Mamalat pushed Marquette ahead 3-2 with wins at the No. 5 and No. 1 spots, respectively. Mamalat is now 11-2 in dual competition and has won 10-of-11.

Unfortunately for MU, the Huskies were able to rally for a pair of three-set singles wins to claim the team victory.

Marquette returns to action when the team makes its annual spring trip to Florida. The Golden Eagles will face Lehigh in Daytona Beach, Fla., on March 13 in the squad's first outdoor dual match of 2012-13.
