The Marquette men's tennis squad, unranked in the latest ITA poll, fell to in-state rival No. 38 Wisconsin, 6-1, in Madison on Wednesday night.

Wisconsin (7-4) claimed the doubles points with wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions despite the Golden Eagles' victory at No. 2.

For Marquette (11-2), No. 84 Medan, Mark Rutherford, Niko Boulieris, Jacob Straus and Jonathan Schwerin each fell to their Wisconsin competition. No. 1 singles pitted two ranked players against one another, with Wisconsin's No. Marek Michalicka defeating MU's No. 84 Dusan Medan, 6-3, 6-4. For the Badgers, No. 13 Moritz Baumann claimed the win over Mark Rutherford, 6-2, 6-4, at the No. 2 spot.

Otavio Perim walked away with the lone point of the day for MU at No. 5 singles, as he forced a tiebreaker and defeated UW's Michael Dierberger, 7-5, 2-6, 7-6 (7-4).

The Golden Eagles continue their road trip over spring break, taking on UC Irvine in California on Sunday, March 14 at 4 p.m. CT.
