The No. 70 Marquette University men's tennis team (9-5) dropped a tough 4-3 decision to No. 53 Utah (12-3) Friday afternoon in Las Vegas in the squad's opening match of its annual spring trip.

The Golden Eagles will wrap up the trip Sunday morning when the team faces UNLV at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.

Utah opened the match by claiming the doubles point, earning wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions. Marquette's duo of senior Logon Collins and sophomore Gleb Sklyr claimed an 8-4 decision at No. 2.

Juniors Vukasin Teofanovic and Cameron Tehrani earned decisions at the No. 2 and No. 4 singles spots, respectively, and freshman Nick Dykema did the same at No. 4. Unfortunately, MU was unable to find the final point needed to secure the team victory.

The loss was the team's fourth to a nationally ranked opponent this season.
