The Marquette University men’s tennis team (8-7) wrapped up its annual spring trip with a 5-2 loss at UCF (9-6) Friday afternoon in non-conference action from Orlando, Fla.

The Golden Eagles finished 1-1 on the trip, defeating Lehigh 6-1 earlier in the week in Daytona, Fla. MU is still in search of its first victory on the road in 2012-13.

The Knights opened the match by sweeping all three doubles matchups to move ahead 1-0. Marquette picked up a pair of singles victories on the afternoon, but it wasn’t enough to claim the team victory.

Junior Dan Mamalat improved to 18-7 overall and 13-2 in dual competition with a straight-set win at the No. 1 singles position. Freshman Gleb Sklyr is 10-5 in dual action after posting a tiebreaker victory at the No. 5 spot to conclude the day’s action.

MU returns to action next weekend at the Boise State Spring Invitational.
