The Marquette University men's tennis team (8-12) dropped a 6-1 decision at No. 69 USF (8-12) Sunday afternoon in non-conference action at the Varsity Tennis Courts in Tampa, Fla.

The Bulls were the sixth nationally ranked opponent of the season for the Golden Eagles, who played without the services of No. 1 singles player Jose Carlos Gutierrez Crowley. The senior is currently out of the lineup with an injury.

USF swept all three doubles contests to claim an early 1-0 advantage and the Golden Eagles were never able to turn the tables in singles competition. Senior Jonathan Schwerin netted MU's lone point on the day, downing USF's Ravi Patel 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 (10-3) at the No. 5 position.

Marquette hosts Northern Illinois on April 8 before traveling to rival DePaul on April 14 to cap the regular season schedule. MU returns to Tampa April 18-22 for the BIG EAST Championship.
