Men's Tennis Cruises Past UW-Green Bay, 6-1

Milwaukee - The Marquette University men's tennis team (13-6) posted its third-straight victory, downing UW-Green Bay (9-10) by a score of 6-1 Wednesday afternoon at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium. The Golden Eagles are now 12-1 on the season at home. MU concludes the regular season Friday afternoon with a pair of matchups. Marquette will face Wright State at 11 a.m. and Villanova at 5 p.m. The BIG EAST Championship is April 17-20 in Tampa, Fla. MU swept all three doubles matches to claim the valuable point, but was forced to post wins in a pair of tight matches. Following an 8-5 win at No. 3, sophomore Mark Rutherford and senior Brett Binkley held on for a 9-8 decision at the No. 1 position. Singles play also went MU's way as the Golden Eagles were able to earn straight-set wins at five of the six positions. Junior Trent Hagan and Rutherford quickly breezed past their respective opponents and sophomore Dusan Medan sealed the victory with a 6-3, 6-3 victory.
