The Marquette University men's tennis team (10-8) defeated Youngstown State 6-1 Saturday afternoon at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium in non-conference action.

The victory was the fourth in a row for the Golden Eagles, who are now 7-1 at home this season.

The Golden Eagles pulled away in doubles to claim the valuable point and the 1-0 advantage. Freshman Andre Romanello and sophomore Kristiyan Trukov posted a quick 6-2 win at No. 3 and junior Daniel Fernandez and senior Vukasin Teofanovic quickly followed suit 6-3 at No. 1 to earn the point.

YSU tied the score at 1-1 with a win at No. 3 singles, but MU rattled off four wins of its own to claim the team victory. Senior Cameron Tehrani clinched the team win with a 6-2, 6-3 decision at No. 6. The action was the first for Tehrani in several weeks after missing time with a concussion.

Also earning wins for Marquette were Mackenzie Stearns, Fernandez, Trukov and Teofanovic.

The Golden Eagles will continue their four-match homestand on Sunday at 2 p.m. CT when the team hosts Cleveland State in non-conference action.
