The Marquette University men's tennis team (10-9) dropped a tough 4-3 decision to Cleveland State Sunday afternoon in non-conference action at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium.

The loss snapped a four-match winning streak for the Golden Eagles.

Cleveland State jumped out to early leads in doubles and never looked back en route to claiming the point. CSU duos posted 6-3 and 6-2 wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions, respectively.

Senior Vukasin Teofanovic tied the score at 1-1 with a quick 6-4, 6-3 win at the No. 2 position over CSU's Jorg Van Der Vloet. Teofanovic is now 9-9 on the year in dual competition, including a 7-3 mark at the No. 2 spot. Sophomores Mackenzie Stearns and Kristiyan Trukov were both able to rally back in second set tiebreakers to post singles wins and give MU a brief 3-2 lead. Junior Daniel Fernandez fell in three sets, however, setting up the deciding point at No. 6 singles.

Senior Cameron Tehrani was able to claim the second set in his matchup with CSU's Colton Buffington, put dropped the third set 6-0 to allow the Vikings to claim the win.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Friday, April 17 when the squad hosts Wright State at 6 p.m. CT.
