Mamalat, Tehrani Advance In Main Draw At Purdue
Sept. 21, 2012
"I was happy with how we played today," head coach Steve Rodecap said. "Cameron (Tehrani) is starting to play better and doubles was much more aggressive and dictated play, so it was nice to see some growth after last weekend."
The Golden Eagles have four players competing in the event, with two competitors in each of the main singles draws and a pair of doubles tandems.
Junior Dan Mamalat opened up his 2012-13 campaign with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Michael Tries of Western Michigan to advance in the main draw. Sophomore Cameron Tehrani did the same, posting a 6-3, 6-2 decision over his opponent from DePaul.
Sophomore James Stark also earned a straight-set decision in the Flight B draw.
In doubles play, Tehrani and Stark picked up a victory before falling to a nationally ranked duo from host Purdue. Mamalat and sophomore David Packowitz remain alive in the main draw after posting a pair of wins.
