Trukov, Dykema Earn Wins On Day One At Purdue

Multiple weather delays have slowed play at the opening day of the 2013 Purdue Fall Invitational, which features a trio of Marquette University men’s tennis players.
Rain in West Lafayette, Ind., has forced play indoors, which has resulted in a limited amount of courts for the events five singles draws and pair of doubles brackets.
Freshmen Kristiyan Trukov and Nick Dykema continued their winning ways, posting opening victories on Friday. Trukov improved to 4-0 on the year in singles action with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Myles Harris of Wright State in Flight E. Dykema posted a 7-6, 6-1 decision against Tim Corwin of league rival DePaul in the Flight D draw and is now 3-1 in 2013-14.
Sophomore Gleb Sklyr dropped a tough 6-3, 6-4 match to Mark Kovacs of host Purdue and will now try to advance in the consolation draw.
All three players are hoping to return to the courts Friday night for more singles play and the open of doubles competition.
