Golden Eagles In Hunt For Flight Titles At Ball State Fall Invitational

The Marquette University men’s tennis team continued play Saturday at the 2009 Ball State Fall Invitational with singles and doubles competition in Muncie, Ind.
Poor weather conditions on Friday loaded the day’s schedule on Saturday as the Golden Eagles participated in a high quantity of matches.
Both senior Niko Boulieris and freshman Otavio Perim advanced to the quarterfinal round in Flight A singles, but each fell in their respective second contest of the afternoon. Boulieris was a straight-set victim and Perim dropped a tough tiebreaker (10-8) matchup with Ryan Hamning of Cleveland State.
Sophomore Jonathan Schwerin also earned a quarterfinal berth in the Flight B draw and freshman Jacob Straus remained undefeated on the year and will play in the Flight C semifinals on Sunday. Straus is now 6-0 in 2009-10.
A pair of MU doubles tandems will play in semifinal action on Sunday after advancing in Flight A competition. The Golden Eagles are also represented in the Flight C draw and have the opportunity to claim multiple draw titles on Sunday.
