The Marquette University men’s tennis team opened play at the 36th Annual Ball State Fall Invitational with an impressive 8-0 record in singles action.

A trio of players advanced to the quarterfinal round of the Flight A draw. Sophomore Kristiyan Trukov, freshman Andre Romanello and senior Cameron Tehrani will all return to the court on Saturday morning after posting two wins on Friday.

“All three of the guys played well, but Kristiyan really battled in his two matches to advance,” head coach Steve Rodecap said. “We are looking forward to another good day tomorrow.

Junior Gleb Sklyr and freshman Mackenzie Stearns are also into the quarterfinals of Flight B, with each player claiming a win after an opening-round bye. Stearns and Trukov also teamed up for a doubles win in the Flight A bracket.

The MU trio of Nick Dykema, Vukasin Teofanovic and Daniel Fernandez hope to open play at the ITA All-American on Saturday, but travel issues in the region are putting their trip in jeopardy.
