Sophomore Brett Meyers, who opens play in the qualifying draw of the 2017 Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., on Saturday, is the lone member of the Marquette men’s tennis team still alive at the event.

Four players had claimed spots in the pre-qualifying draw, but each was eliminated by the close of play on Sunday afternoon. Junior Alvaro Verdu claimed his opening match before falling to Stephen Madonia of Florida 6-3, 6-4.

Freshman Luis Heredia Gomez, sophomore Luke Smrek and junior Greg Anderson each dropped their respective opening matches in the pre-qualies. Anderson and Smrek did post a win in a consolation matchup before heading back to campus.
