Marquette men’s tennis player Brett Meyers wrapped up the team’s play at the 2017 ITA Men’s All-American Championships Tuesday morning with a loss in the second round of the qualifying draw.

Meyers, who compiled an impressive 16-3 overall record as a freshman in 2016-17, was the lone Golden Eagle to earn an invitation to the qualifying bracket. Meyers four teammates were all eliminated in the pre-qualifying field.

The Naperville, Illinois, native downed North Florida’s Lasse Muscheites 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 on Monday morning before falling to Louisville’s Parker Wynn 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 in the second round. Wynn was seeded in the bracket.

MU returns to action this weekend at the Bayliss Invitational, hosted by Notre Dame. The Golden Eagles won’t send the entire roster, just six players total.
