The Marquette University men’s tennis team capped its weekend at the 2008 Ball State Fall Invitational with singles and doubles action.

Sophomore Juan-Martin Paredes teamed up with BSU’s Jon Wegener to claim the championship of the “C” doubles flight, posting an 8-5 decision over Paul Foley and Matt Manasse of Purdue. Junior Mark Rutherford dropped the consolation final of the “A” flight, falling 7-6, 6-4 to Purdue’s Slavko Bijelica.

The other three Golden Eagles at BSU saw their tournaments end Saturday afternoon. MU also wrapped up play at the ITA D’Nova All-American on Saturday, competing in the pre-qualifying singles draw.

Marquette returns to action next weekend at the Purdue Invitational, Oct. 10-12.
