Milwaukee - The Marquette University men's tennis team concluded play at the 2007 MU Fall Invitational Sunday morning in impressive fashion, capturing four of the event's five titles.

The Golden Eagles proved victorious in each of the three singles flights and didn't drop a singles match the final two days of the six-team tournament. MU also claimed the Flight "A" doubles championship.

"We came out on top in a lot of close matches and that was good to see," head coach Steve Rodecap said. "We've really worked hard in singles the past two weeks and it was good to see us head in the right direction in that area."

Sophomore Dusan Medan rallied for the Flight "A" singles title, holding off five match points against Benjamin Raynauld of Butler. Medan split the first two sets 3-6, 6-4 and trailed 9-5 in the tiebreaker before earning the 14-12 victory.

Senior Pete Van Lieshout clipped teammate Niko Boulieris 5-7, 6-4, 11-9 to claim the Flight "B" trophy. Van Lieshout now owns bragging rights over his doubles partner as he claimed his first flight title of the 2007-08 campaign.

Senior Greg Sirotek completed the singles sweep with a 6-4, 6-7, 10-8 win over top seed Alfanzo Monroy of Northern Illinois.

Sophomore Mark Rutherford and senior Brett Binkley capped the successful morning with a hard-fought 9-8 win over Chris Herron and Eric Breitenbach of Butler for the Flight "A" doubles championship.

Freshman Graydon Klassen posted a quick 6-2, 6-0 win over Jesus Diaz of IUPUI to claim the consolation championship of the Flight "C" singles draw.

"I was very happy with the energy on the court," Rodecap said. "We had a lot of guys playing at the same time and they were able to feed off of each other."
