Freshmen Jacob Straus and Jose Carlos Gutierrez Crowley each claimed flight titles on Sunday as the Marquette University men's tennis team wrapped up play at the 2009 Purdue Invitational.

Straus finished the weekend 3-0 en route to the main draw title in Flight B action. He defeated Brandon Bayliss of Butler 6-3, 6-2 and didn't drop a set in the event. The San Antonio, Texas, native is now 11-2 on the year and is first on the roster in victories.

Gutierrez Crowley rebounded from an opening-round setback in Flight A play on Saturday to capture the draw's consolation championship. The Queretaro, Mexico, native downed Butler's Chris Herron in a close matchup, 7-5, 7-6 on Sunday.

MU's doubles tandem of freshman Otavio Perim and sophomore Jonathan Schwerin fell in the semifinals of the lone doubles flight.

Marquette's senior class did not compete in the event at Purdue. Dusan Medan wrapped up play at the D'Novo/ITA All-American Championships and both Niko Boulieris and Mark Rutherford did not make the trip.
