The Marquette University men’s tennis team wrapped up play at the 2011 USTA/ITA Midwest Regional Championships, hosted by Ohio State University, Saturday afternoon with both singles and doubles competition.

Sophomore Dan Mamalat, the lone Golden Eagle remaining in the main draw, was defeated by 14th seeded Sam Keeton of Notre Dame. Keeton posted a 6-2, 5-7, 6-4 victory. In main draw doubles action, the MU tandem of sophomore Logon Collins and freshman Vukasin Teofanovic was downed 8-3 by Illinois’ duo of Tim Kopinski and Stephen Hoh. Illinois doubles squad was seeded 13th in the 64-team bracket.

Earlier in the weekend, Collins fell in his opening match of the main draw while teammates Otavio Perim and Teofanovic were unable to claim wins in the qualifying bracket. The doubles team of Perim/Mamalat fell just short in an 8-5 setback against a sixth-seeded squad from host Ohio State.
