The Marquette University men’s tennis team opened the 2008 MU Fall Invitational at Helfaer Tennis Stadium with a strong effort throughout the lineup.

The Golden Eagles are represented in each of the four main draws as play begins on Saturday, with multiple players advancing in both singles and doubles action.

A trio of juniors (Dusan Medan, Niko Boulieris and Mark Rutherford) are alive in the “A” flight. Boulieris and Medan cruised to straight-set victories, while Rutherford was able to rally for his win. Half of the quarterfinal spot in the “B” flight were claimed by MU players as each made quick work of their respective opponents.

In limited doubles competition, Marquette posted three wins in the two flights and will continue with semifinal action on Saturday.

The three-day event concludes Sunday afternoon.
