Men's Tennis Faces Michigan and Western Michigan in Fall Tourny
Oct. 28, 2006
KALAMAZOO - The Marquette men's tennis team completed their second day of competition at the Vrdevelt Invitational hosted by Western Michigan. The Golden Eagles played Western Michigan and Michigan today, using the hidden duo format. Brett Binkley, Niko Boulieris, Greg Sirotek and Pete Van Lieshout all earned singles wins against the Spartans. Binkley took down Tyler Saulebrey, 6-4, 7-5. Greg Sirotek defeated Alex Allon, 6-2, 6-0. Marquette was unable to come up with any wins against the Broncos. Trent Hagan forced three sets against WMU's Kevin Hayward but was unable to closeout the match, losing 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (5). "It was a disappointing day today," assistant coach Raj Gill said. "We didn't get as many wins as we would have liked but I think we are starting to see improvement with some guys toward the direction we want them to go. We just need to work really hard on being more consistent and having more guys come ready to play." Play concludes tomorrow with three rounds of doubles. -COMPLETE RESULTS- Michigan State
