The Marquette University men’s tennis team wrapped up play at the Wildcat Invite Sunday afternoon with singles competition to conclude a solid weekend at Northwestern University.

Both junior Dan Mamalat and sophomore Vukasin Teofanovic concluded the tourney 3-0 in singles after each player posted a win on Sunday. Mamalat picked up a quality win over Northwestern’s Sidarth Balaji 7-5, 6-4 and Teofanovic held on for a 7-6, 1-6, 1-0 (10-6) decision over Iowa’s Dominic Patrick.

Teofanovic was originally scheduled to play an opponent from Wisconsin, but Patrick was inserted after Jakhongir Jalalov withdrew.

“I thought heading into the weekend it was important to get Dan (Mamalat) and Vukasin (Teofanovic) some more matches before the tournament in Texas,” head coach Steve Rodecap said. “Both players took advantage of the opportunity and were able to build up some confidence against a quality field.”

Mamalat and Teofanovic were scheduled to play in the Flight A doubles title match, but it wasn’t played.

Freshmen Javier Varela Hernani and Gleb Sklyr also picked up singles victories on Sunday.

MU will wrap up the fall portion of its 2012-13 campaign next weekend at the Texas Invitational. The Golden Eagles will be represented by Mamalat, Teofanovic, Logon Collins and Cameron Tehrani.
