The Marquette University men’s tennis team opened play at the 2015 Louisville Invitational on Friday with singles and doubles competition.

The Golden Eagles have four players participating in the event and Friday the team was led by senior Gleb Sklyr. He finished the day 3-0 overall, posting a pair of wins in the Flight B singles draw before teaming up with freshman Alvaro Verdu to post a doubles victory. Sklyr earned a tough three-set decision in his opening match before making quick work of Austin Peay’ Aleh Drobysh 6-3, 6-3 to earn a spot in the quarterfinals.

Junior Kristiyan Trukov and sophomore Scott Christian are also representing Marquette at the tournament and will continue consolation play on Saturday morning.
