The Marquette University men's tennis team opened play at the UT Invitational Friday afternoon and collected several impressive performances in the final event of the fall campaign.

Both junior Logon Collins and sophomore Cameron Tehrani collected a pair of victories in singles and own spots in the Flight B quarterfinals on Saturday. Collins netted a pair of straight-set victories over opponents from Ball State and UT-Arlington, while Tehrani managed to rally for a three-set win in his second match of the day.

"It's good to see Logon and Cameron continue their strong starts to the season," head coach Steve Rodecap said. "Vukasin has really made some strides since last year and its starting to show in his results on the court."

With eight victories thus far in 2011-12, Tehrani took over the team lead from classmate James Stark.

Junior Dan Mamalat and sophomore Vukasin Teofanovic each won their respective opening match in the Flight A draw, but both players were knocked out in the round of 16.

Teofanovic's 6-4, 6-3 win over Oklahoma's Leonard Stakhovsky is worth noting. Stakhovsky is the third-ranked newcomer in the nation by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

In doubles action, both of Marquette's tandems fell in the opening round.
