MILWAUKEE- The Marquette University men's tennis team (0-1) hosts its first dual home match for the 2015 campaign Friday, Jan. 23 against IUPUI.

First serve begins at 6 p.m. Central time at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium.

The Golden Eagles have opened their dual competition at home against the Jaguars since 2011 and have won every match.

“One of our focuses every year is to take advantage of our home court, and we look forward to starting that with IUPUI Friday night,” head coach Steve Rodecap said. “IUPUI returns five of the six guys who we faced last year, and with their new additions they should be much improved.

“We will need to be sharp in doubles and execute much better around the net,” Rodecap added. “The start in doubles has become so critical and we need to do a good job of setting the tempo of the match early.”

MU returns five players who notched victories over the Jaguars last year. Senior Vukasin Teofanovic and sophomores Nick Dykema and Kristiyan Trukov won their singles and doubles matches in the 6-1 win.

Marquette is coming off a 6-1 defeat from last weekend’s action up in Minneapolis against No. 49 Minnesota. Freshman Andre Romanello was the lone MU player to record a win at the No. 6 singles spot, defeating Mathieu Froment 6-7, 6-3, 1-0.

IUPUI (0-3) currently boast a 0-2 record at home and lost its first away match 6-1 at Purdue last weekend. Before Marquette, IUPUI will take on Cardinal Stritch University at 10 a.m.

Following the match, Marquette hits the road for three away matches. Friday, Jan. 30, the Golden Eagles take on VCU in Richmond, Virginia at 1 p.m. CT.
