The Marquette University men's tennis team will take on IUPUI in its 2011-12 dual match home opener on Friday, Jan. 27 at 6 p.m. CT at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium.

Marquette (0-1) fell in straight sets to No. 25 Minnesota on Jan. 21 to begin the spring campaign. Sophomore Dan Mamalat and junior Jose Carlos Gutierrez Crowley were a bright spot for MU in last weekend's matchup with the Golden Gophers. The duo was able to top No. 55 Phillip Arndt and Leandro Toledo, 8-5, at the No. 1 doubles spot.

“We have had a good week of practice and the entire team is eager to get back out on the courts,” head coach Steve Rodecap said. “There is always a level of comfort when you play at home and we are looking forward to the quality competition IUPUI brings with its program.”

IUPUI (1-2) managed to claim a 5-2 victory over SIU-Edwardsville in its dual season opener on Jan. 20, before being swept in straight sets to No. 7 Kentucky and No. 53 Michigan State on Jan. 22.

Last dual season, Marquette was 8-2 at the friendly confines of the Helfaer Tennis Stadium, including a 5-2 victory over IUPUI.

Live scoring will be available on for all the 2012 home matches.
