Marquette Hosts Toledo, SDSU To Conclude Homestand

Feb. 1, 2017

The Marquette University men’s tennis team will conclude its season-long four-match homestand when it plays host to Toledo and South Dakota State on Feb. 3 and Feb. 4, respectively.

Both matches will begin at 6 p.m. Central time at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium.

Marquette (2-1) swept its weekend series against IUPUI and Illinois State to open up the homestand. The Golden Eagles defeated IUPUI, 6-1, and then swept Illinois State, 7-0.

Toledo (2-3) opened its dual slate by losing its first three matches, which included a loss to No. 3 Ohio State. However, Toledo has won its last two events, betting Wright State and Duquesne each by a 6-1 margin. The Golden Eagles have played Toledo each of the past two seasons, claiming a 5-2 victory in both matches.

South Dakota State (0-2) has opened its dual slate with two tough Big Ten matchups. The Jack Rabbits were swept by both Minnesota and Wisconsin in their season opening duals. The Golden Eagles have defeated South Dakota State in each of the past four seasons, and have won all eight meetings in the series history.

The Golden Eagles will travel to Tucson, Ariz. next week to take on Utah State on Feb. 11, followed by Arizona on Feb. 12. Both matches will begin at 11 a.m. Central time.
