The Marquette University men's tennis team heads to Iowa City, Iowa this Friday to take on the Hawkeyes at 6 p.m. CT.

MU (1-3) looks to earn its first away win of the dual competition after falling to ranked opponents No. 50 VCU and No. 34 Virginia Tech last weekend. The Golden Eagles also suffered a loss to No. 49 Minnesota on Jan. 17.

"This will be our third tough road test in a row and we will need a much better and more complete performance from all nine spots in the lineup if we want to be successful this weekend," head coach Steve Rodecap said. "It will be very important for us to play good doubles and get off to really good starts in order to set the tempo of the match. Iowa is playing with a lot of confidence and has started the season really strong, so we need to be at our best."

Daniel Fernandez was the lone MU player to notch a victory last weekend. The junior took down VCU's Joseph Cohen at the No. 2 singles spot, 6-1, 1-6, 6-2. Fernandez, along with Andre Romanello, lead the Golden Eagles with 2-2 records in singles play. Fernandez has played all of his matches at the No. 2 spot. Romanello has seen action at No. 4, 5 and 6 singles, earning wins at the No. 5 and 6 positions.

Iowa (3-1) enters the competition after securing a 5-2 away win at Yale. The Hawkeyes remain undefeated at home, recording previous wins against Western Michigan and Western Illinois.

The No. 31 doubles tandem of Matt Hagan and Dominic Patrick remains undefeated and improved to a 3-0 record after defeating a duo from Yale, 6-4. In singles play, Jake Jacoby leads the Hawkeyes, boasting a 4-0 record after claiming victories at the No. 5 and 6 singles spots.

After Iowa, MU returns to campus for a three-match homestand beginning with IPFW on Friday, Feb. 20 at 6 p.m. CT at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium.
