The Marquette University men's tennis team begins its four-match homestand Thursday, Feb. 13 against Wright State with opening serve slated for a 6 p.m.
MU (4-3) made the most of its East Coast road trip last weekend, finishing 1-1 against Princeton and Penn. The squad dropped a close match against Princeton, but rallied the following day to defeat Penn 5-2. The Golden Eagles were led by senior Dan Mamalat and junior Cameron Tehrani, who accounted for an undefeated weekend of competition in singles and doubles.
Wright State (2-3) heads into competition with three-straight losses, its most recent to No. 17 Kentucky. The Raiders have not yet been able to secure a victory on the road. The squad’s last victory was against IUPUI where they defeated the Jaguars 6-1 at home.
“It will certainly be nice to get a stretch of matches on our courts,” head coach Steve Rodecap said. “It is always important for us to be really good on our courts and this homestand will be a big test for us.
“Our doubles has been good of late and we look to continue improving there,” Rodecap added. “We have made progress in singles, but if we want to be a good team it is vital that we always compete hard from start to finish in all six spots consistently.
After Wright State, MU will take on Denver Friday, Feb. 21 at 6 p.m. CT at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium.
