Feb. 15, 2011

MILWAUKEE -  The Marquette University men's tennis team will continue its five-match road trip on Wednesday, Feb. 16, as they travel to Madison, Wis to face Wisconsin at the Nielsen Tennis Stadium 6 p.m.

"Wisconsin is a really good team and they are always good in their facility," head coach Steve Rodecap said. "They have one of the best players [Michalicka] in the Big Ten at the top and a very talented group behind him."

Marquette (4-3) dropped two matches against nationally-ranked opponents last weekend at No. 56 Michigan State,6-1, and to No. 25 Notre Dame,7-0, in East Lansing, Mich.

Sophomore Jose Carlos Guiterrez Crowley was a bright spot for the Golden Eagles last weekend, picking up MU's lone point in singles play against the Spartans and a victory in No. 1 doubles with teammate Dan Mamalat against Notre Dame. Crowley is 5-2 in the No.1singles spot in dual matches this season.

Wisconsin, ranked No. 40 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, comes into the match riding a four-match losing streak. The Badgers (2-4) have yet to leave the friendly confines of Nielson Tennis Stadium this season. Senior captain Marek Michalicka is 4-1 at No.1 singles and a perfect 6-0 with partner Billy Bertha in doubles matches.

Marquette fell to the Badgers, 6-1, last season in dual match play.
