Marquette downed UIC in a 6-1 non-conference victory last Friday, Feb. 12. Daniel Fernandez, Alvaro Verdu, Nick Dykema, and Kristiyan Trukov picked up wins in singles play and freshman Greg Anderson clinched the team win for the second time in his MU career.
The Golden Eagles now stand with a record of 3-0 at home.
No. 68 Purdue has maintained a seven-match winning streak, the longest for the Boilermakers since eight straight in 2014. The latest occurred Saturday, Feb. 13 when Purdue compiled victories over Valparaiso 4-3 and Indiana Tech 5-1.
“Saturday’s match is going to be a big challenge,” head coach Steve Rodecap said. “I am interested to see how our guys respond to playing one of the top teams in the region. It’s going to take a team effort to leave with a victory.”
Marquette returns to non-conference action on Saturday, Feb. 27 at Wisconsin, 6 p.m. CT.
