The Marquette University men’s tennis team returns to the Helfear Tennis Stadium this weekend to take on Southern Illinois and Drake in non-conference action.

The Golden Eagles will host the Salukis at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, March 2 before entertaining the Bulldogs at 1 p.m. This weekend’s action begins a three-match homestand for MU.

“We have three home matches against really good teams prior to our spring trip, where we will shift things to outdoors,” head coach Steve Rodecap said. “This will be a challenging weekend playing two of the best in their respective leagues.

“Southern Illinois is well coached and should be a good test for our guys,” Rodecap added. “We haven’t played them in a few years, so it’s nice to have them back on the schedule. Drake has only lost one match to Harvard all year and they are playing with a lot of confidence.”

MU (5-5) returns home after road losses last week to Wisconsin and most recently to nationally ranked Notre Dame on Feb. 26. The Golden Eagles are currently undefeated at home.

Freshman Cameron Tehrani continues to impress in singles and doubles play. Tehrani has complied 13 wins for the season and now has the best record on the team for the last 10 matches with nine wins and only one loss. Sophomore Logon Collins is right behind Tehrani with an 8-2 record for the last 10 outings.
