Marquette Travels To Wisconsin, Hosts Utah This Weekend
March 3, 2017
The Marquette men’s tennis team looks to build off a 5-3 record in matches at Wisconsin March 3 at 5 p.m. CT and vs. Utah March 5 at 9 a.m. CT.
The Golden Eagles defeated Green Bay in their last match on their home court. Marquette won all but one singles point and swept the doubles matches to take the 6-1 victory. The team takes on in-state rival Wisconsin in its first action of the weekend Friday evening.
The Badgers are ranked No. 31 in the nation with a 6-2 record. Last week they dropped a narrow 4-3 match to No. 24 Cornell and will take on Marquette as the second part of a doubleheader after facing off against Eastern Illinois. Wisconsin took last year’s matchup between the in-state rivals by a 7-0 score.
Marquette returns home Sunday morning to play Utah and its 10-2 record. The Utes rolled over Montana 7-0 in their last time out. The Golden Eagles last played Utah in 2014, dropping a close match 4-3.
The team will welcome back a number of former players this weekend for an alumni event and the group will attend the men’s basketball game vs. Creighton on Saturday afternoon and the match vs. Utah on Sunday morning.
Following this weekend’s two matches, Marquette will play NIU March 8 at 6 p.m. CT at Helfaer Tennis Stadium
