Marquette Set For Weekday Tilt With NIU

MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University men’s tennis team will square off against NIU in a weekday dual on Mar. 8 at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium. First serve is slated for 6 p.m. Central time.

The Golden Eagles will look to build off recent momentum, claiming two of their last three matches, including a narrow 4-3 victory over Utah on Mar. 5 at home. After surrendering the doubles point to Utah, Marquette claimed four of six singles points, en route to a victory.

Marquette Downs Northern Illinois 6-1
The Marquette University men’s tennis team (5-5) claimed a 6-1 victory over Northern Illinois (10-5) Wednesday night in non-conference action at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium.

Greg Anderson leads Marquette this season with 10 total wins, and has compiled a 2-0 record from the No. 2 singles position. In doubles action, Anderson has teamed up with Luke Smrek, amassing a 5-1 record in dual competition, all coming from the No. 3 position.

NIU also enters the matchup winning two of its last three, most recently dispatching IUPUI, 6-1. Bor Schweiger Muzar has led the Huskies thus far this season, playing to an overall record of 16-9, which includes a 5-0 mark from the No. 1 position in singles play.

Following the dual, MU will head to San Antonio, Texas to play a trio of matches, beginning with New Orleans on Mar. 15 at 11 a.m. Central time.
