Marquette Opens Six-Match Road Swing This Weekend

The Marquette University men’s tennis team (6-5) will begin its six-match road swing with a pair of contests in Toledo, Ohio beginning Saturday, March 12 at 1 p.m. CT against Findlay, followed by Toledo at 1 p.m. CT on Sunday.

The Golden Eagles improved their home record to an undefeated 5-0 last weekend after downing Eastern Illinois 6-1. Senior Daniel Fernandez and Alvaro Verdu clinched the doubles point at the No. 1 spot to give Marquette an early 1-0 edge. Fernandez, Nick Dykema, Mackenzie Stearns, and Greg Anderson picked up singles wins for MU.

Findlay (6-4) comes into the match with a two-match winning streak with victories at both Belmont Abbey (6-3) and Southern Wesleyan (7-2).

Toledo (7-7) compiled all seven of its wins at home for the dual campaign. The Rockets most recently lost to Butler, 5-2, in non-conference action on February 27.

Following play in Ohio, Marquette will head to Dallas, Tex. for another set of matches March 20-21, against SMU and UT Arlington.
