Marquette Concludes Road Swing In California

The Marquette University men’s tennis team (8-7) wraps up its six-match road swing this weekend with a pair of matches in California.

The Golden Eagles will play at San Diego on Saturday, March 26 at 5 p.m. CT before taking on Portland in on the same courts at 12 p.m. CT on Sunday, March 26.

Marquette’s freshman duo of Greg Anderson and Alvaro Verdu leads the team with seven dual match singles victories. Anderson is 7-4 with the program since joining the roster after transferring from TCU and Verdu owns a share of the team lead in overall wins with 10 (7-5 in dual action).

Verdu also teams up with senior Daniel Fernandez at No. 1 singles and the tandem is 10-7 overall and 7-5 in dual action.

Following the weekend’s action, the Golden Eagles return home on April 1 to face Creighton and begin a three-match homestand. The team hasn’t played in Helfaer Tennis Stadium since defeating Eastern Illinois on March 5.
