Marquette Hosts Butler On Senior Night

The Marquette University men’s tennis team brings in Butler for its final home match of 2018 at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium on Friday, April 13.

Prior to the 6 p.m. Central time first serve, Scott Christian will be recognized during senior night for his accomplishments through the past four years.

The Golden Eagles (13-5) have a perfect home record of 10-0 and push to complete the undefeated season at Helfaer this. Marquette went 8-0 at Helfaer in the 2016 spring campaign, finishing the season in the finals of the BIG EAST Championship.

Marquette continued BIG EAST play this previous weekend by claiming wins off Creighton (5-2) and Xavier (7-0). Luke Smrek, Luis Heredia, Greg Anderson, Brett Meyers added two wins to their personal records by downing their singles opponents against the Bluejays and Musketeers.

Butler (13-4, 1-0) is a on a four-match win streak, topping Ball State and IUPUI this past weekend. Butler put away IUPUI with the help of sweeping the doubles point and claiming four quick victories in singles play.

Marquette’s lone senior Scott Christian will be recognized in a pre-match ceremony. The Lake Forest, Ill. native found his grove at Marquette in doubles play with a current doubles record of 20-13 throughout his four years.

Marquette will play its final BIG EAST regular season match against DePaul on April 21 before heading to Cayce, S.C. for the conference tournament.

The Marquette University men's tennis team (15-9) saw its bid for the program's first BIG EAST Conference title fall just short Sunday morning, falling 4-3 to Butler (18-5) in the championship match at the Cayce Tennis & Fitness Center.
