Griesedieck, Robinson Sign With Golden Eagles

June 15, 2017

The Marquette University men’s tennis team has announced the addition of Eddie Griesedieck (St. Louis, Mo./Westminster Christian Academy) and Julian Robinson (London, England/Reeds School) to the program for the upcoming 2017-18 campaign.

“Both Eddie and Julian are very good students and great young men, and will be a great fit for Marquette and our program,” head coach Steve Rodecap said.

Griesedieck attended Westminster Christian Academy in St. Louis, Mo., and was at one point ranked No. 1 in the state in doubles. He served as team captain as a sophomore and advanced to the championship match of the state tournament. He finished 19-6 overall at No. 1 singles that season for the Wildcats and also claimed the sportsmanship award.

“Eddie is a physically strong player that has a solid base from the baseline, but does have the ability to come forward to finish points,” Rodecap said. “His unique style playing left handed with the groundstrokes and the flexibility to serve with both his right and left hand will serve him well in college.”

Robinson, who attended the Reeds School in London, England, has been ranked as high as 751st in the International Tennis Federation world rankings. He has competed in multiple ITF events over the course of his career and advanced to several doubles championship matchups. The program at Reeds School has claimed the National Schools Championships five-straight years.

“Julian is an all-around player that has great balance from the baseline, and moves around the court very well,” Rodecap said. “One thing that really stood out during the recruiting process is how motivated he is to continue to get better. His work ethic and dedication will have a huge impact on his growth as a player.”

Robinson and Griesedieck join Luis Heredia Gomez (Madrid, Spain/Kensington School) to form the newcomer trio in 2017-18. Gomez officially signed last November.
