MU Wraps Up Play At Milwaukee Tennis Classic

The Marquette University men's and women's tennis teams wrapped up play at the 37th Annual Milwaukee Tennis Classic Sunday afternoon with both singles and doubles competition.

The men's squad faced DePaul in doubles before taking on rival Wisconsin in singles play and the women's team took on Detroit in doubles and concluded the day with singles action versus Western Michigan.

The Golden Eagle tandem of Logon Collins and Vukasin Teofanovic rallied for a 9-7 victory at the No. 1 position over their opponents from DePaul. Teofanovic took over control of the match for MU, which trailed 5-7 late in the match.

Sophomore James Stark rallied for a 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (13-11) win at the No. 6 spot over Wisconsin's Alexander Kostanov to earn MU's only singles win of the afternoon. Sophomore Ana Pimienta made quick work of WMU's Maggie Remynse at the No. 1 spot, posting a 6-0, 6-3 decision. Marquette claimed four of the six singles contests with the Broncos. Also claiming wins were freshmen Erin Gebes and Laia Hernandez Soler and sophomore Vanessa Foltinger.

Sophomore Ali Dawson and freshman Aina Hernandez Soler posted wins over Xavier earlier in the afternoon.

Marquette's Logon Collins and Rocio Diaz were awarded the Mulcahy Sportsmanship Award for their conduct on the court during the course of the weekend.
