MU Continues Fall Campaign At Purdue Invitational Sept. 21-23
Sept. 20, 2012
The Marquette University men’s tennis team will continue the fall portion of its 2012-13 campaign this weekend (Sept. 21-23) at the Purdue Invitational in West Lafayette, Ind.
Marquette will be represented by junior Dan Mamalat and sophomores Cameron Tehrani, David Packowitz and James Stark. The tourney field will compete in three singles flights and a trio of doubles brackets. Mamalat and Packowitz will form one of MU’s doubles tandems, while Tehrani and Stark will compete as the squad’s other duo.
“Hitting the road for the first time presents its unique challenges,” head coach Steve Rodecap said. “We are bringing four veterans, however, so hopefully it’s not as big of an issue.
“This weekend’s tourney features a quality field and I am looking forward to our guys building off of last week’s Milwaukee Tennis Classic,” Rodecap added. “At this point in the season it’s all about getting as many matches in as possible and hopefully we are able to take advantage of the opportunity and advance through the weekend.”
Other teams competing include: Butler, DePaul, Iowa, IPFW, IUPUI, Toledo, Green Bay, Valparaiso, Western Michigan, Xavier, Purdue and Cleveland State. As long as the weather permits, all matches will be played at Purdue’s Schwartz Tennis Center beginning at 8 a.m. each morning.
