The Marquette Men's tennis team will be back in action this weekend at the 32nd Ball State Invitational in Muncie, IN. The competition will take place at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center and Lucina Courts.

The host Cardinals will welcome a 12-team field, which consists of Ball State, Butler, DePaul, IPFW, IUPUI, Marquette, Northern Illinois, Eastern Illinois, Cleveland State, Xavier, Illinois State and Wisconsin-Green Bay.

The tournament consists of three flights (A, B, and C) of singles with draws of 32 apiece. There will also be three flights of doubles with draws of 16 apiece. There will also be consolation play for first round losers in both singles and doubles.

This weekend's play will serve as a homecoming for Marquette head coach Steve Rodecap. As a player at Ball State, Rodecap helped the Cardinals to three (1993-95) Mid-American Conference Championship titles.

"It's always nice to go back to where college tennis started for me," Rodecap said. "I have a lot of memories at Ball State and really enjoy taking my teams there to compete."

Freshman Thibault Troude of Marquette will look to further his success in the young season after getting his first two victories of his career in last weekend's Milwaukee Tennis Classic.

Troude will be joined by six other teammates at the tourney: Logon Collins, Dan Mamalat, Jose Manuel Munoz, Otavio Perim, Robin Ravel and Jonathan Schwerin. Jose Carlos Gutierrez Crowley and Drake Kakar are currently out due to injuries.

"This time of year is really important for the development of our players and this will be a great opportunity for all of them to get some quality playing time," said Rodecap. "It is also nice to be playing in back to back weekends because it is what our guys will be doing when the dual match season starts."
