The Marquette University men’s tennis team will send four of its own to West Lafayette, Ind. for the 2015 Purdue Fall Invitational taking place Sept. 25-27.

Beginning at 8 a.m. each day, the tournament will consist of three day’s worth of flights in both singles and doubles. Each player is guaranteed three singles and three doubles matches. Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings followed by Universal Tennis Rating will be used to seed and determine draw assignments for Friday and Saturday’s play. Championship and final rounds will be held on Sunday.

“The fall portion of our schedule is a great way for our guys to compete in a large number of matches and this event is perfect for us,” head coach Steve Rodecap said. “We are bringing a number of younger players on the trip and hopefully we can collect a successful weekend.”

The other 14 teams taking place in the tournament will be Ball State, Butler, Chicago State, Dayton, Eastern Kentucky, IUPUI, Lewis University, Louisville, Southern Illinois, Tennessee, Tennessee Tech, Toledo, University of Indianapolis, and Wright State.

Marquette’s Scott Christian, Andre Romanello, Gleb Sklyr, and Alvaro Verdu will be participating in the invitational, following a successful weekend at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic. Verdu won his match against Wisconsin’s Jakhongir Jalalov at the No. 2 position. Sophomore Romanello earned a win over Valparaiso in doubles (Nick Dykema), and finished runner-up in doubles last year at the Purdue Fall Invitational (Kristiyan Trukov).
