The Marquette University men’s tennis team will split for a pair of weekend tournaments in Muncie, Ind., where the 36th Annual Ball State Fall Invite will be held, and Tulsa, Okla., which will play host to the ITA All-American Championships.

The Golden Eagles will send Scott Christian, Andre Romanello, Kristiyan Trukov, Mackenzie Stearns, Gleb Sklyr and Cameron Tehrani to Ball State. Nick Dykema, Daniel Fernandez and Vukasin Teofanovic will represent the Blue & Gold in Tulsa.

The ITA All-American Championship, held at the University of Tulsa’s Michael D. Case Tennis Center, is the first national title opportunity of the 2014-15 collegiate tennis season. The tournament format features a two-day pre-qualifying draw, before players can advance to qualifying and eventually the main draws.

In the other event held at Ball State, Marquette will be part of an eight-team field which includes the host Cardinals, Butler, Chicago St., Dayton, IPFW, IUPUI and Indianapolis.

“It is always nice returning to Ball State for their invitational,” said head coach Steve Rodecap. “I always look forward to this tournament.”

This will be the Golden Eagles third consecutive week of competition, which Rodecap views as a great learning experience for a young team.

“It will be our third weekend in a row playing an event, so I will be interested to see how well we can compete both mentally and physically,” said Rodecap. “There are certainly a lot of positives about this group of guys, but we still need to take advantage of these fall tournaments in terms of development.”

Competition will be held at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center, and consist of two draws of 32 in singles and two draws of 16 in doubles.
