Dan Mamalat is seeded 17th in the pre-qualifying draw

Sept. 27, 2013

Marquette University men’s tennis players Dan Mamalat and Vukasin Teofanovic will represent the program at the 2013 ITA All-American Championships this weekend in Tulsa, Okla.

Both players have earned a spot in the pre-qualifying draw and will begin play Saturday morning at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. Advancing through the first bracket allows player to claim an entry in the qualifying draw.

Mamalat, who is seeded 17th in the field, will face Dusty Boyer of Nebraska in his opening match. Teofanovic, meanwhile, will take the court versus Miami’s William Albanese.

“This event always features the top talent in the country,” head coach Steve Rodecap said. “It’s good for Dan and Vukasin to see how they stack up versus the elite field and hopefully they are both able to stay alive through the weekend.”

Mamalat and Teofanovic both went 2-1 in singles action at the season-opening Milwaukee Tennis Classic (Sept. 13-15), but haven’t seen competitive action since that weekend.
