Junior Vukasin Teofanovic of the Marquette University men’s tennis team saw his run in the pre-qualifying draw come to an end Sunday afternoon at the ITA All-American in Tulsa, Okla.

The, Novi Sad, Serbia, native opened play on Saturday afternoon with a straight-set win over his opponent from Miami and followed that up with a 6-4, 6-7, 6-4 victory against Fredrik Ask of Arizona. Ask, who transferred from Wisconsin, was a familiar opponent for Teofanovic.

The day’s busy schedule called for Teofanovic to return to the court shortly after his victory to face fourth-seeded Brett Clark of North Carolina. The match went to the third set, but unfortunately Clark was able to earn the 3-6, 7-6, 7-5 decision.

Teofanovic was trying to become the first Golden Eagle to advance through the pre-qualifying draw since countryman Dusan Medan (Nis, Serbia) played nine matches in eight days at the event in 2009.

Senior Dan Mamalat, who fell in his opening match on Saturday morning, wrapped up his weekend with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Elliot Yee of Indiana in a bonus match.
