Marquette University Men's Tennis Invitational September 29-30, 2000 Glendale Tennis Complex

Marquette Wins Four Singles and One Doubles Flight at Invitational The Golden Eagle tennis team continued their strong play this weekend at the Marquette Invitational. Marquette sent six singles players to the finals of their respective flights and ended up winning four of the flights. At No. 4 singles, Justin Holsen needed a tiebreaker to defeat Joey Turner of Wright State, 4-6, 7-5 (10-6). Brian Verban also won his flight, No. 5 singles by defeating Dan Bennett of DePaul in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3. Kent Davies who defeated Tom Heidenberger of UW-Green Bay, 6-0, 6-0, won the No. 6 flight. Playing at No. 7 singles, Frank Rigo came back and defeated UW-Green Bay's Ben Davis 4-6, 7-5 (10-8). On the doubles side, the Golden Eagle sent two teams to the finals and managed to win one of the flights. The No. 2 doubles team of Davies and Holson beat Rob Loeber and Nick Vuko of Valparaiso 8-6.
