Oct. 5, 2009

Tulsa, Okla. - Senior Dusan Medan of the Marquette University men's tennis team continued his strong play at the D'Novo/ITA All-American Championships Monday afternoon, knocking off a nationally ranked opponent to advance in the qualifying singles draw.

Medan defeated Christopher Aumueller of Nebraska 6-4, 7-5. Aumueller was seeded 12th in the 128-player draw and 59th in the nation in the ITA preseason rankings. Medan has now advanced further at this event than any other player in head coach Steve Rodecap's seven-year tenure.

"In an event like this all of the players participating are solid and it comes down to taking advantage of your opportunities," associate head coach Erick Martinez said. "Dusan played tough today and took advantage of his opportunities."

The Nis, Serbia, native will face the winner of the Sebastian Gallego (Minnesota)/JT Sundling (USC) matchup on Tuesday morning.
