Dusan Medan Advances In ITA Consolation Draw

Oct. 9, 2009

Tulsa, Okla. -

Senior Dusan Medan of the Marquette University men’s tennis team picked up a pair of victories against nationally ranked opponents Friday afternoon as he advanced in the consolation bracket of the 2009 D’Novo ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla.

Medan rebounded from his loss in the main draw on Thursday afternoon to post an impressive 6-3, 6-3 decision over Austin Krajicek of Texas A&M. Krajicek is currently ranked 30th in the nation according to the preseason rankings released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association in early September.

The Nis, Serbia, native was scheduled to play USC’s Jaak Poldma in the following round, but the 49th-ranked player in the nation was forced to withdraw because of injury. Medan does officially get credit for the victory and will return to action Saturday afternoon.

Medan began play at the event on Oct. 2 and has now played eight matches in a seven-day span, including a trio of three-set decisions.
