Beginning Thursday, Oct. 22, the Marquette University men’s tennis team will open play at the 2015 ITA Midwest Regional, competing in both singles and doubles competition.

The tournament is hosted by Notre Dame and will be held at both the Eck Tennis Pavilion (South Bend, Ind.) and Lakeland Athletic Club (Niles, Mich.).

Four players will open tourney action on Thursday with qualifying play in the 64-person draw. Junior Nick Dykema, senior Gleb Sklyr, sophomore Andre Romanello and junior Mackenzie Stearns take the court first thing in the morning and must win three matches to claim a spot in the main bracket.

Two weeks ago, the Golden Eagles sent Stearns Dykema, and Kristiyan Trukov to the ITA All-American in Tulsa, Okla. Senior Daniel Fernandez finished off the four-squad roster and advanced in the main bracket on opening day of matches. Dykema, Stearns, and Fernandez will return this weekend to ITA play, with Romanello, Sklyr, and freshman Alvaro Verdu joining for their first bout in ITA this season.

Fernandez/Verdu will compete in the main bracket in doubles. Remaining doubles teams are Stearns/Dykema, and Romanello/Sklyr.
