The Marquette University men's tennis team will continue its fall slate this weekend (Oct. 26-28) when it makes the short trip to Evanston, Ill. for the Wildcat Invite on the campus of Northwestern University.

Matches will be held at the Vandy Christie Tennis Center, and in the case of inclement weather play will move indoors to the Combe Tennis Center. Both venues are located on Northwestern's lakeshore campus.

MU will be represented by freshmen Gleb Sklyr and Javier Varela Hernani, sophomores David Packowitz, James Stark and Vukasin Teofanovic and junior Dan Mamalat.

Along with MU and the host Wildcats, programs competing include Arkansas, Toledo, Western Michigan, Wisconsin, DePaul, Purdue, Illinois State and Iowa. Participants will take part in two flights of singles and one doubles draw. There will also be “extra” matches in an effort to guarantee all players at least three singles and doubles matchups.

“This will be the last event for the majority of these guys so it’s important for them to have a good outing in order to finish with something positive,” head coach Steve Rodecap said. “It’s a strong field so there will be plenty of good opportunities.”

Marquette placed five players into the 64-person main draw last weekend at the USTA/ITA Midwest Regionals, including sophomore Cameron Tehrani, who earned his spot in the main draw by posting three consecutive wins in the qualifying bracket. Tehrani then partnered with junior Logon Collins in doubles action at the event to reach the quarterfinals.

This is the third consecutive year that MU has participated in the Wildcat Invite. Last year, the Golden Eagles had a pair of players advance to title matches in their respective draws. Championship matches were not played.
